Born to a family of modest means, Ramkaran Singh hails from a small village in Uttar Pradesh. The UP boy was bursting crackers aged 5, when splinters flew into his eyes leaving him with impaired vision overall. He subsequently moved to New Delhi and enrolled himself into a school for blind boys, where he could be a part of the school’s sports programme and pursue his passion.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• Gold medal in the 5000m event at the 8th Sharjah International Athletics meet, 2018
• Bronze medal in the 5000m event at the 10th Fazza IPC Athletics Grand Prix Dubai, 2018
• Silver medal in men’s 800m at the Para Asian Games in Incheon, 2014
