Sports literacy campaign was launched on 14th March, 2022 at Village Faridapur Inayat Khan sports ground of Tehsil Sadar of District Bareilly. The Sports Literacy Promotion Campaign was launched under the joint aegis of the country's well-known gas supply company Central U.P. Gas Limited (CUGL) and Sports: A Way of Life, an NGO promoting sports literacy.

Sports: A Way of Life, Program Director, Ravi Shukla said that before the start of this sports literacy campaign, a sports literacy survey was conducted here in this village and in the  entire block and it was found that the sports literacy of women and men here was 1.9. and 6.7 percent respectively, so  it was / is a low sports literacy to which we call sports illiteracy. If we were to to improve our performance then we have to increase sports literacy very fast.

Keeping this in mind, Sports Literacy Mission was formally launched in the presence of Mr. Yashpal Rana (Former International Volleyball Player), Mrs. Geeta Arora Sharma (Former Olympian, Hockey Player), Mr. Pushpendra Singh (National Athlete Player), Mr. Dhananjay Singh (Village Head).

Under the sports literacy campaign, a door-to-door campaign to make sports literate, will be carried out by a representative appointed by CUGL and Sports: A Way of Life. Starting from this village, this campaign will go to almost all the villages of Bareilly district. Sports Literacy Van has also been started to run Sports Literacy Campaign, which is fitted with LCD screen for showing short films based on sports  to rural children. Sports books and calendars will also be distributed to the children of the village, in which the vocabulary of sports has been used to teach Hindi alphabet. Stickers with messages related to sports will be pasted outside every house, through which they will be motivated to play and pamphlets based on the benefits of sports will also be distributed.

Mudit Kanchan from CUGL said that by becoming sports literate, the passion for sports will be created in the children, but if we think from the point of view of the country, then these children will go to play at the Olympic and national level tomorrow. CUGL will now also be known as an organization promoting sports. There are about 400 families in this village and we envision that children from all households will come forward to play and we will also develop many other sports facilities for these children with time.

Dr. Kanishka Pandey, President of Sports: A Way of Life and Head, IMT Ghaziabad, the country's first Sports Research Center said that we cannot talk about more medals in sports like Olympics without ending sports illiteracy. Sports literacy campaign will prove to be a milestone to remove the cloud of darkness over sports and we want to take this campaign to every village in the country. Today sports coach has been appointed for this village as well as two facilitators have also been appointed. Who will give sports training to these children every day and will try to take forward the game. With the passage of time when these children play regularly and competence in them increases, then we will try to take them to the district and national level.
