Annual Function - 2023 Foji Matkota, Pant Nagar, Uttarakhand 3-5 March, 2023

A Way of Life planned to organize the first big event in the second year of the “Sports Literacy Promotion Campaign”. The organization decided to conduct a three day Sports Annual Function at the Government Inter College Ground, Fauji Matkota village, Pant Nagar, Uttarakhand from 3rd to 5th March 2023.

 

Since the last year, children of Fauji Matkota village enrolled within the project have been participating in various competitions and have also won more than dozen of medals as a result of dedicated practice and heard work under the guidance and teachings of coach appointed by the organization in the village. These competitions used to be organized at district level, block level or by any institute. But this time, with the efforts of “Sports: A Way of Life” and with the support of “Emami Limited”, an Inter village competition was hosted at Fauji Matkota village. 

 

This was a three day event where athletic games and team games were organized for all the age groups. The games were conducted on the first and the second day of the Annual Function followed by the result declaration and prize distribution. The games were open to the children from nearby villages as well. The only requirement from them was to come and get their names registered for the desired games.

 

The events conducted were marked in two categories which were “Athletics” and “Team Games” In Athletics we had 5 types of races and one Track and field event which was Long jump. The five types of races were: 

 

- 50 mt. Dash, 

- Sprints (100mt. 200mt. 400mt)

- Middle Distance Race; 800mt

 

All these athletic games were conducted for both boys and girls in four standard classified age groups. A total of 28 races were conducted in two days. In the second Category we had two team games, ‘Kabaddi’ and ‘Volleyball’. Again for both boys and girls in two standard classified age groups. 

 

The Annual Function 2023 was a very successful event in terms of Participation. Since it was an inter Village Event and was open for all the nearby villages, a total of 5 villages participated in this event. In the team games also we had five teams which competed in a tournament format playing matches in knock out format and also had an opportunity to fight for the third place as per the global tournament standards.

 

Not only the five villages but we also had a very special group of children who participated in this event and witnessed all the three days of the Annual Function. This group was from an organization which works for the welfare of disabled children. The coach appointed at the village Fauji Matkota is being giving free of cost training to these especially abled children. 13 of these children participated in a 50 mt. dash race.

 

The five villages which participated in the Annual function were Fauji Matkota, Bindukhera, Chatarpur, Dharampur and Bura Rani Village.

 

A total of 300 Children got themselves registered in different events and participated with a great sportsmen ship and positive energy.

 

The third day of the event was the closing ceremony where the results were announced and prizes were given to the winners. This closure ceremony was attended by more than 200 people from the village Fauji Matkota. The closing ceremony was addressed by guests from different disciplines which had a very positive impact on the children.

- Mr. Vivek Dixit – H.R. Emami Ltd.

 

 

A total of 175 medals were won by the children throughout the event. The summary of the results are as follows:
