Dr. Kanishka Pandey’s study revealed that only 0.0001 percent, which one can consider negligible, children from these schools play sports at the district level and state or national. Four books were also released on the occasion by former Olympian Shri Ashok Dhyanchand, Shri M.P. Singh, Syed Jalaluddin Rizvi, Dronacharya Awardee Shri R.D. Singh and eminent Sanskrit educationist Shri Hare Ram Mishra (JNU) and and former Secretary, Government of India, Shri Vijay Shankar Pandey as well as, the children of these Madrasas and Sanskrit schools. These books included Sports: A Way of Life (Urdu and Sanskrit), Khel Kayda (Urdu) and Khel Parichayika (Sanskrit).
Today, a total of 37.60 crore students study in various schools in our country. There are about 24800 Madaras as in the country according to the government data and there are a total of 4800 Madaras which are not in the government figures but these are working on the ground. Approximately 45 lakh children are studying in the whole country. Similarly, the number of children studying in Sanskrit and Vedic medium is also in severally lakhs but their exact figure is not available.
